PORTRAITS

My favorite part. Meeting new faces carrying different stories.

Xavi at Berkeley

Xavier Albors is a twin like no other.  On a quick weekend trip to visit him during UC Berkeley's "Cal Day", he looked different. He’s transformed from the boy who used to endlessly kick a soccer ball against my bedroom wall to a soccer coach guiding kids who were once like him.  He spends his time bitting his nails and twirling the front pieces of his hair as he anxiously thinks about what he has to do next. He's a chemistry major, a brother in the professional chemistry fraternity (AXΣ), Co-Chair of the Forum Committee in the club Latin American Leadership Society (LLS), an undergraduate researcher... (jeez let us take a breath!). Luckily,  on a tour around campus he seemed to forget about the ends of his fingers and tentacle-like hair. His goofiness became the center of attention. I hope to see him again sometime soon.

Nora

Nora Levy doesn't know what she wants to do with her life. She's a free spirit though. The kind of person that reminds you to look up at the stars to spot a shooting star. She'll tell you to take your shoes off and feel the grass tickle your feet. In another universe she would be an orange stained-glass window or a purple dragonfly fluttering in a red rose garden. Though her path in life is unclear, she is unforgivably herself. An older sister willing to lend a hand. A fashionista who can't decide what to wear because she wants to wear it all. A friend who will bring out a smile even in the saddest of times. A best-friend who asks the tough questions, "Is he the one?", "Are you depressed?", "Wine or tequila kind of night?". During a mini photoshoot on a warm winter night in Puerto Rico I realized I will never be able to capture the warmth she constantly provides.
